NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to law, the Whittier Historic Resources Commission will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. , in the Council Chamber, 13230 Penn Street, Whittier, California, to consider Certificate of AppropriatenessNo. HRC21-0013, a request for exterior repair and rehabilitation of a designated local historic landmark building (Chase House), and Mills Act Agreement No. MMA24-0002, to establish a Mills Act contract between the City of Whittier and the property owner for the property located at 6523 - 6527 Bright Avenue, and more particularly described as Assessor’s Identification No. (AIN) 8139-004-005 in the City of Whittier. (Owner/Applicant: Mar and Mar Investments LLC/Samuel Blanco). The project is categorically exempt from the environmental review process, pursuant to Section 15331, Class 31 (Historical Resource Restoration/Rehabilitation) of the California Environmental Quality Act, in that proposed work is limited to maintenance, repair, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, conservation or reconstruction of historical resources consistent with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Public Comment options for Historic Resources Commission Meetings :• Email: comdev@cityofwhittier.org (must be submitted prior to 4:30 p.m. on June 10, 2026) Any person wishing to comment on the proposed project may do so in writing between the date of this notice and the public hearing(s); or may be heard in person or via Zoom at the time noted above. All comments must be received prior to, or at the time of the public hearing(s). All such comments will be submitted to the Historic Resources Commission, and the Historic Resources Commission will consider such comments, in addition to any oral testimony, before making a decision on the proposed project. If this project is challenged in court, the issues may be limited to those raised at the public hearing, described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Historic Resources Commission at, or prior to, the public hearing. Be advised that as a result of public hearings and comments, the Historic Resources Commission may amend, in whole or in part, the proposed project. Accordingly, the designations, development standards, design or improvements, or any properties or lands within the boundaries of the proposed project, may be changed in a way other than specifically proposed.
